Ansel Adams-Black and white intro

Ansel Adams was born in San Fransisco, California on February 20th 1902. In his early childhood he was affluent and normal, until a series of unfortunate events left him penniless and with a marred nose. His substitute for schooling was music, and piano took up his life until the age of twenty. Until he became a photographer, a pianist was his chosen profession. By the late 1920s, he had settled into his home at Yosemite and has switched over to photography. In 1927, he took the iconic Monolith, the face of half-dome. In 1932, he had his first one-man art exhibition. Even though he was a hard worker, often laboring 18 hours a day, he spent much of the  1940s doing commercial photography to provide for his wife and two children.

I chose this photo because of the curves that the tree is creating. The muddy gray skies are a backdrop to the unique and almost tortured feeling you get from the wind-blown climate.
